Clear home currency balances caused by allocation exchange difference adjustments

Steps to clear leftover home currency exchange adjustment postings following the reversal of transactions.

Written by Arthur Ashdown

Following the reversal of various transactions, you may be left with exchange adjustment postings that contain only home currency (GBP) values.

If the customer or supplier record is set to Any Currency, you can post a home currency adjustment to balance off these postings, then allocate the transactions against each other in the home currency via the allocation area.

⚠️Warning: Setting a customer or supplier to Any Currency cannot be undone. Ensure you are happy to proceed before making this change.

Set the record to Any Currency

To enable a home currency adjustment to be posted, the customer or supplier record must first be set to Any Currency.

  1. Open the customer or supplier record.

  2. Select the Terms tab.

  3. Tick the Any Currency checkbox, taking note of the warning that this cannot be undone.

  4. Click Save & Close.

Post a home currency adjustment and allocate

Once the record is set to Any Currency, you can post the adjustment and clear the balances.

  1. Post a home currency adjustment to balance off the exchange adjustment postings.

  2. Navigate to the allocation area and allocate the transactions against each other in the home currency.
