If you receive an ASLM semaphore error when running an Access Supply Chain (ASC) option, the steps to resolve it depend on whether the error is occurring on a single machine or across all client machines.
Error on a single machine
If only one machine is producing the error, compare its ASLMFNET environment variable against a machine that is working correctly.
On a computer that does not produce the error
Open Control Panel and click System.
Click Advanced System Settings. A System Properties window appears.
At the bottom, click Environment Variables...
Find and select ASLMFNET and make a note of the value.
On the computer that produces the error
Repeat the steps above and check the value for ASLMFNET:
If the value is different, amend it to match the value from the working computer.
If the value is the same, check that you can open that folder in File Explorer:
If the folder cannot be opened, refer to your IT team to obtain the correct permissions for that folder.
Error on all client machines
If the error is occurring on all client machines, the server may have been renamed or assigned a new IP address. First, confirm you can log in to ASC on the Supply Chain Server. If you can, proceed with the steps below on each affected machine.
Open Control Panel and click System.
Click Advanced System Settings. A System Properties window appears.
At the bottom, click Environment Variables...
Find and select ASLMFNET and make a note of the value.
Check that the machine can open the file location shown in the ASLMFNET value:
If the path is incorrect, update the ASLMFNET variable with the correct path and confirm the client PC can open the file location. This is typically the server's ASC installation folder, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Access Applications
In that file location, run aslmpclocate.exe as administrator.
⚠️Important: aslmpclocate.exe must be run as administrator, otherwise it may not apply the changes correctly.
