How to move stock from one warehouse to another warehouse.
The folllowing steps will move stock from one warehouse to another. There are a lot of steps so please attempt this on your test ASC system first:
Note: The warehouse movement function only works if lot traceability is enabled in your system. If you cannot access the option, please contact your system administrator.
Step 1: Create a New Warehouse Movement
Open WM - Warehouse Movement Order.
Create a new movement and enter:
Reference - a short description or reference for the transfer.
From Warehouse - where the stock is currently held.
To Warehouse - where the stock is being moved to.
Date - the date of the transfer.
At this stage, the movement is saved as Unposted, meaning no stock has been moved yet.
Step 2: Add the Items to be Moved
Open the Details section.
Add each part you want to transfer.
Enter:
The Part Number.
The Quantity you wish to move.
Repeat this for all items included in the transfer.
Step 3: Check Stock Availability
Run the Check option to make sure there is enough stock available in the source warehouse.
If there is insufficient stock, the system will advise you and the movement cannot be completed until the issue is resolved.
Step 4: Complete the Transfer
Once the stock check has passed, select Post.
Posting the movement will:
Remove the stock from the source warehouse.
Add the stock to the destination warehouse.
Update the stock records accordingly.
After posting, the movement status will change to Posted, confirming the transfer has been completed. Posted movements cannot be amended, so please ensure the details are correct before posting.
Optional: Print a Copy
You can print the Warehouse Movement Order at any time for your records.
In summary: Create the movement, add the items, check there is enough stock, and then post it to complete the transfer between warehouses.
